Success Story

When we approached the Amber Door Spa owner, Marla M., she was very skeptical about "Internet Sales". Amber Door Spa had an existing web site and as Marla M. said: she never received a single e-mail through the web site.

The ArtTask team went to work and started analyzing Amber Door Spa's existing web site. Very quickly our team discovered the reasons why the web site was forgotten and was hidden in the 'back' corners of the internet.

The first thing that came to our attention was the body text font, it was too sophisticated to be used on a web site. There are basically two types of fonts: serif and sans serif. The most common serif font is Times New Roman. Arial is an example of a common sans serif font. Also, there was no real text used on the web site. The text was photographed and was inserted in the body of the web site. Hence why the search engines were not able to find any content on the page and, as a result that page was completely ignored by the search engines. Other problems followed; meta tags, titles and descriptions in the header of the pages were not present at all. In a situation such as this there was no chance to SEO the web site. We started to work together with Amber Door Spa. We spent many hours asking questions about the nature of her business, her clientele, details of her business and finally about her expectations. We created a complete proposal for Amber Door Spa, this included search engine optimization.

After launching the new web site, the search engine optimization took a hold.

We knew that the business operates locally in Oakville, we also knew the nature of the business, therefore the first logical key word would be, 'Oakville spa'. After weeks of rigorous work, we were able to bring the site even higher in Google's ranking.

A few months passed, we got the first phone call from Marla M. She was thrilled and sounded very excited, Amber Door Spa sold its first gift certificate over the internet using the new web site. Amber Door Spa was still not in the first 10 Google rerecords however this particular sale was a good sign of things to come, and fulfilled a promise ArtTask had made to Marla.

ArtTask's work was not finished, in order to get the page higher in Google's ranking we needed more time and a little more work. A few months passed and Amber Door Spa 'Oakville Spa' key word was found in the seventh position in Google's Search engine. This is where Marla M. ceased being a skeptic, and the internet became a daily part of Amber Door Spa business model. The administrative user friendly site interface allowed Marla to make the necessary daily updates without having to know a thing about web site development.
